I was led to believe that a professional illustrator needed a background in graphic design and I spent two years at technical college training to do this before being offered a job as at an advertising agency. My role was to produce general commercial illustration; however, after six months, I was impatient to establish my own name and portfolio of work and left to do precisely that.

There was no turning back and in a varied career from that point, there is scarcely an area of professional illustration I have not touched.

Nowadays, I use a Paasche AB Turbo - a far cry from my first Humbrol modeller’s airbrush - and today’s inspiration is the great exponent of American film poster art, Drew Struzan. However, my vocation remains unchanged: I still strive to create perfection whether for a commission or my own enjoyment.
